Laptop Docking Stations

My girlfriend bought a corner desk to move her laptop to. She has a Targus laptop docking station. It has 4 USB, mouse and keyboard, parallel, serial, sound, network etc. inputs and she uses it so her laptop will be like a desktop. We moved and unplugged everything and then plugged it all back up but now the docking station won’t work. We have no idea what went wrong. We’ve unplugged and plugged everything back up and rebooted and shut down and tried about everything but the mouse and keyboard won’t work! I have it plugged in to the laptop and the lights for the USB are on. Is there just something simple that we didn’t think of or are missing? Some help would be greatly appreciated. We are at our wit’s end right now .

I was playing my ipod on docking station this morning, after it finished charging i took it off and 2 hours later i went to go listen to it and it wont turn on, ive tried plugging it in to laptop and it still wont go on so i cant use it. The ipod isnt on hold.

I recently found a Dell laptop docking station in an alley. Everything is perfectly fine about it, just no power cord. it’s this dock http://www.weirdstuff.com/cgi-bin/item/18068. I have a Toshiba Satellite R15-S829. What I want to do is hack the docking station to work with my Laptop. The docking port looks the same, the only problem is its in the wrong place, so I would be making a new dock with the components of the original dock and put the port in the right place. I just want to know if it will work when I connect them together after the build or would I just be wasting my time? Thanks

The socket where I plug the power cable into my laptop has broken, so I am no longer able to recharge my battery, and the computer doesn’t work at all. Can I buy a USB docking station and run my computer entirely through that to avoid having to get my computer fixed?

The laptop and monitor work but just today when the laptop is in the docking station the monitor says “Video Mode cannot display” or something very similar to that. Am I missing some simple setting…THanks a million!

i want to hook a laptop up to a docking station so i can have a large screen. large keyboard and mouse.. that type of thing. is there a docking station that works really well? i don’t want to mess with wires every time i want to dock it. i want to keep the docking station at a desk and just be able to plug it in. is there one were i can just plug one cord by any chance? any help would be great!

I’m looking for a little advice. I have a HP 6910p laptop from work and I wanted a docking station for at home. I have one at work but unfortunately they only issue one. I decided to go on ebay and buy a docking station which said it was compatible with my laptop (Docking Station Product # PA286A). The laptop will dock on to the station but the AC power supply is different than the one I have. I can’t seem to figure out A. where I can buy just the AC adapter and which on do buy because there is not much information out there or if B. There is some sort of adapter to make my current AC apdater work with this docking station.
Any words from the guru’s would be great.

I had two specific questions. Please take some time off to answer it.
If I connect my laptop to a docking station which is connected to an external monitor, keyboard and a mouse:
Would I be able to view item ‘A’ on the external monitor and item
‘B’ on my laptop screen?
Would I be able to use external keyboard and mouse for item ‘A’, and laptop’s keyboard and touchpad mouse (or may be another external mouse connected to my laptop) on item ‘B’?

I have an IBM X31 THINKPAD ULTRABASE P/N 91P9024 to which i attached my laptop. All is good and well, but how do I detach it now?

I am having trouble finding a good docking station for my D-430 laptop. I want something that I can just drop my laptop into when I want to use it with a monitor, keyboard, speakers, printer, etc. I looked at Dell’s website and didn’t find an easy answer, couldn’t tell the difference between a dock and a port replicator. Just want the easiest/best product that will handle the full range of add-on’s.
