Is It Possible To Hack A Laptop Docking Station To Work With An Unintended Laptop?

I recently found a Dell laptop docking station in an alley. Everything is perfectly fine about it, just no power cord. it’s this dock http://www.weirdstuff.com/cgi-bin/item/18068. I have a Toshiba Satellite R15-S829. What I want to do is hack the docking station to work with my Laptop. The docking port looks the same, the only problem is its in the wrong place, so I would be making a new dock with the components of the original dock and put the port in the right place. I just want to know if it will work when I connect them together after the build or would I just be wasting my time? Thanks
